Hosted Items

Overview

The Hosted Items screens serves as a "library" for the various assets needed for your marketing efforts, such as images or style sheets. By hosting these assets within the Engage+ platform, you can easily reference them when you build your Campaign content.

Note: New assets are uploaded into the platform from the New Item screen, not from the Hosted Items screen. See New Item for more details on how to upload new assets into Engage+.

The Hosted Items screen does not allow you to move an asset into a different folder once it's been uploaded. If you need to move an asset, please speak with your Customer Services Representative for assistance.

 View Asset Details

The Hosted Items screen displays information about a selected asset, including its public URL. This URL is needed for inserting assets, such as images, into Campaign content.

To view the details of an asset:

  1. When you navigate to the Hosted Items screen, the left-hand navigation is split into two panes. The left-most pane provides a tree-like hierarchy of the folder structure for your Hosted Items. Click on the desired folder or sub-folder.

Note: You can't create new folders directly from the Hosted Items screen. When you upload new assets via the New Item screen, you have the option to create a new folder at that time. See New Item for more details.

  1. When you select a folder, the pane to the right is populated with an alphabetical listing of all the assets stored within that folder. Optionally, you can search for an asset by entering all or part of the asset name in the "search by name" field.

  2. Click on the desired asset. The Hosted Item details screen is displayed. This screen shows the public URL, and (depending on the asset type) a preview of the asset. You can also use the Click to Copy option to copy the image URL, if needed.

 Replace an Asset

The Hosted Items screen allows you to replace an existing asset with a new, updated version of that asset. For example, if you made changes to an existing image, you could swap out the old version, and replace it with the new one. This feature allows you to make changes to your existing assets, without modifying the URL for that asset; therefore any Campaigns that utilize this asset don't need to be modified, as the URL stays the same. Please note that when you replace an asset with a new version, the platform can take up to ten minutes to reset the cache, and for the change to take effect.

To replace an asset:

  1. When you navigate to the Hosted Items screen, the left-hand navigation is split into two panes. The left-most pane provides a tree-like hierarchy of the folder structure for your Hosted Items. Click on the desired folder or sub-folder.

  2. When you select a folder, the pane to the right is populated with an alphabetical listing of all the assets stored within that folder. Optionally, you can search for an asset by entering all or part of the asset name in the "search by name" field.

  3. Click on the desired asset. The Hosted Item details screen is displayed.

  4. Click choose file, then navigate to and select the new version of the asset.

Note: The replacement file must have the same file name as the asset that you're replacing. Also, the replacement file can't be contained within a zip file.

  1. Click upload file & save. The system replaces the existing asset with the new version, and displays a success message.

 Delete an Asset

The platform allows you to delete a Hosted Item if it's no longer needed. However, take care when deleting Hosted Items; any references to the deleted item's URL will no longer work. Also, deleted Hosted Items can't be restored.

To delete an asset:

  4. Click delete. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  5. Click delete item.

Add a Hosted Item to a Campaign

After you've uploaded an asset into the Messaging platform, you can insert the URL to that asset into the content of your marketing Campaign.

To add a Hosted Item to a Campaign message:

  1. Navigate to the desired Campaign (see Campaigns for more details).

  2. Scroll down to the "Message" section, and click edit. The "Advanced Editor" screen is displayed.

  3. Place your cursor in the main content field where you want to insert the Hosted Item. The Personalization Pane appears on the right-hand side of the screen.

  4. In the Personalization Pane, click on the "URLs" group to expand it.

  5. Within the "URLs" group, double-click on "Hosted Item" (or, optionally, you can drag "Hosted Item" from the Personalization Pane, and drop it into the text field). A "Browse Hosted Items" dialog box is displayed.

  6. From the "Browse Hosted Items" pop-up window, you can click on a folder in the directory structure to see a list of all the items stored within that Folder.  This pop-up window also allows you to search based on item name. When you find the desired Hosted Item, click on its name.

  7. The system inserts the Hosted Item's URL at the indicated position. If you're inserting an image into the message content, you'll need to manually add the HTML image tag. For example:

<img src=http://namwpm.eccmp.com/wpm/394/images/header_image.png>

  1. The system also displays the URL within the Clipboard section of the Dynamic Pane. If you need to add this same asset again, you can simply click on it in the Clipboard, rather than going through the "Browse Hosted Items" dialog box.
